Belonging Matters

I am a second generation Iranian-American and I write children’s books that support students and educators to create belonging in their school communities. My own experience feeling different as a child has informed my career as a school counselor and as a writer of children’s fiction.

I have used Restorative Practices and circles to help students feel seen and respected for who they are, and to create community, equity, and belonging. Beyond my work with students, a major focus of my career has been training and supporting educators across Wisconsin in using Restorative Practices. That work is more vital now than ever before.

A major aspect of my career has been training and supporting educators across Wisconsin in the use of Restorative Practices. As a retired educator, I now write children’s literature that illustrates the process and the impact of Restorative Practices.
